Ariana Grande is aware of her ex-fiancé Pete Davidson’s burgeoning “casual” new romance with actress Kate Beckinsale, but she isn’t particularly disturbed by his moving on, multiple sources made clear to Us Weekly. “Ariana isn’t bothered at all,” the sources told the outlet. One said that Grande has her sight on bigger things, namely her album Thank U, Next, which comes out in two days: “The focus is entirely on the album coming out on Friday and [she] can’t wait for fans to hear,” the source said.
Grande hasn’t spoken much about her and Davidson’s breakup (aside from the nice things she wrote in the “Thank U, Next” music video’s Burn Book about him), although that’s subject to change when the album comes out. Fans speculate multiple tracks could be about her and Davidson’s May to October romance.
Grande’s description of what the track “Ghostin'” is about in particular has some convinced the song will focus on the issue Davidson had as the successor to Grande’s last boyfriend, Mac Miller, whom she dated for two years. Miller passed away shortly before Grande and Davidson called off their engagement, and his loss profoundly affected her.
Grande described “Ghostin'” as being about “feeling badly for the person you’re with bc you love somebody else. feeling badly bc he can tell he can’t compare…. and how I should be ghosting him,” she said. She revealed in her “Thank U, Next” video that she broke up with Davidson when she wrote “sry I dipped” on his Burn Book page.
Grande has officially remained single since her and Davidson’s breakup. Davidson and Beckinsale, meanwhile, aren’t likely to become anything serious, a source told E! this week “They spend most of their time on opposite coasts so it’s a casual thing,” the source said. “But they are going to keep talking and having fun together.”
People‘s source echoed the same point about Beckinsale and Davidson’s relationship this week. “Kate’s not looking to get serious with someone,” its source said. “She wants to have fun with guys and date around.”
