Billie Eilish was far from the most predictable performer at this year’s Oscars, and she stepped out on the red carpet in her own cool take on Academy Awards fashion. There’s no ball gown here. Instead, Eilish wore a white oversized Chanel tracksuit. She accessorized with long black nails, lace fingerless gloves, and multiple necklaces.
Eilish will be doing a “special performance” tonight during the ceremony. The Academy gave no additional details on what she’d be performing beyond that. Eilish did confirm, however, that she is singing the theme song for the new James Bond movie, No Time to Die, so it’s possible she’ll debut the track at the Oscars.
Eilish and her brother Finneas O’Connell both spoke glowingly about the opportunity in statements confirming their collaboration to the film. “It feels crazy to be a part of this in every way,” Eilish said. “To be able to score the theme song to a film that is part of such a legendary series is a huge honor. James Bond is the coolest film franchise ever to exist. I’m still in shock.”
O’Connell added that “writing the theme song for a Bond film is something we’ve been dreaming about doing our entire lives. There is no more iconic pairing of music and cinema than the likes of Goldfinger and Live And Let Die. We feel so so lucky to play a small role in such a legendary franchise, long live 007.”
Eilish attended the Grammys two weeks ago, where she won all four of the ceremony’s biggest awards (Best New Artist, Song of the Year, Record of the Year and Album of the Year). She is the youngest singer to earn this accomplishment.
