Glenn Close’s Oscars weekend has been filled with a lot of family time so far. The Oscar nominee (and, in many people’s opinions, the favorite to win for best actress) took both her daughter, Annie, and her dog, Pip, to the Independent Spirit Awards last night, and Pip had no trouble assuming his role in the spotlight. The Havanese pup, who walked the blue carpet with this owner, also followed her onstage when she received a Best Female Lead award.
Earlier in the night, Close wasn’t so sure that the powers that be near the step-and-repeat would allow her fur-child to join her in front of the cameras. But think about it from a photographer’s perspective: Would you want Glenn Close sans small, fuzzy, loyal pup, or an awards-show photo that includes a happy dog? It’s truly not a hard call to make.
Pip was the perfect accessory to Close’s metallic lavender Sies Marjan suit. The suit and the dog seemed to be the toast of the awards night, with plenty of Twitter users heavily applauding both. The Oscars might be too much of a formal environment for a canine guest, but at least he got his 15 minutes on the eve before the Oscars.
Saturday night was not Pip’s debut at star-studded events. Close’s Instagram account is basically just a documentation of their adventures together, including an appearance on The View earlier this month. He’s also got his very own account (what star pooch doesn’t!), which should get him quite a few followers after his big Hollywood weekend.
The following is to be read in the tone of an old Hollywood movie producer’s voice: Sir Pippin of Beanfield, you’ve got real potential, kid.
