Lauren Jauregui is pretty confident. “I don’t want to hype myself up too much, but, you know…I might be pretty good at it,” she says. Who could question that? After all, she’s a member of the currently-on-hiatus pop group Fifth Harmony, and she’s just dropped her own debut solo single, “Expectations.” The 22-year-old is a total pro, having entered the arena at 16 when she auditioned for X Factor.

The rules of ELLE.com’s Song Association are simple: We give the singer a word, and they have 10 seconds to sing that word in a song. Jauregui nailed it, breezing through Rihanna, Ariana Grande, and her own cuts. Watch as she warms up her vocal cords, matches songs to her footwear (“These is bloody shoes”), and sets herself up for success. “I only got 10 seconds!” she says. “Gotta make the most of ’em.”
