Archie Mountbatten-Windsor made his royal tour debut today, meeting the Archbishop Desmond Tutu in Cape Town alongside parents Prince Harry and Duchess Megan. Suffice it to say, there was a lot to digest from his major outing. (The striped overalls! The “Arch meets Archie” IG caption!)
However, one inevitable conclusion is just how much four-month-old Archie looks like a young Prince Harry. As Markle cradled Archie before and during the Sussex’s meeting with the Archbishop, it felt reminiscent of Princess Diana holding Harry. Many pointed out similarities to photos of Harry during Prince Charles and Diana’s royal tour of Italy in 1985. It wasn’t hard to see a resemblance considering Archie’s light bits of red hair and sweet smile.
Back in May, Markle said she and Harry were “still trying to figure out” who Archie looked like during his Windsor Castle introduction to the world. In fact, many have drawn comparisons between baby Archie and a younger Duchess of Sussex, particularly their dark brown eyes.
It’s not yet known whether Archie will tag along for any other events on the Duke and Duchess’s royal tour of South Africa. However, his first engagement was commemorated on the SussexRoyal Instagram with two photos and the caption: “Arch meets Archie! This morning The Duke and Duchess were honored to introduce their son Archie, to Archbishop, Desmond Tutu and his daughter, Thandeka. The Archbishop, a globally respected figure in anti-apartheid movement, is one of the world’s great champions of equality, and has spent his life tirelessly battling injustice. Their Royal Highnesses have joined The Archbishop and Thandeka to learn more about the work of The Tutu and Leah Legacy Foundation, and see first-hand how they are focussing on global awareness of the critical issues affecting the world.”
