“Pete’s mother was very nervous,” a source, described as a family friend, told the outlet. “She knows her son goes through manic episodes and thought he was rushing into a relationship [after ending things with Cazzie] and would wind up getting hurt.” Pete was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder in 2016, and Amy was particularly fearful that if he and Ariana split, he “would become very, very depressed and resort to self-harm.”
But all is well now! “Pete’s mom has grown to love Ariana and can see how much she loves Pete,” the source said. “It has gotten better now that she knows Ariana better.” Phew.
In a new interview with Variety published yesterday, Pete admitted there’s a bit of him that can’t believe she’d stay with him. But things with Ariana are really real and lit: “I’m still convinced she’s blind or hit her head really hard,” he said with a laugh. “Something is going to happen, and she’s going to be like, ‘What the f*ck is this thing doing around?’ For right now, it’s rocking.”
