Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are still in the early days of their new life away from royal responsibilities. This change has reportedly been a “tremendous shift” for Meghan, who returned to Canada shortly after the couple announced their big royal step-back in early January.
Now that Harry and Meghan have had some time to settle into their new lives in North America, the move has proven to be positive for them as a couple, too. People reports that the couple has grown even closer since their move.
“They are besotted and very sweet with each other,” someone in Harry and Meghan’s circle told the publication. The source said that the couple, who reportedly call each other “H” and “M,” are focusing most of their attention on helping their young son adjust to his new life.
“Archie is the priority,” the source said. “It’s very much still about taking care of him and putting the family first. He’s a happy kid—he loves to laugh. Archie and Harry have such a good time together. And Meghan is a great mom. She’s very much about tending to him. They are trying to live their life as regular parents.”
The source also added that Harry and Meghan have become “real homebodies who love to chill out with Archie and the dogs.” They like to hike in the woods of Vancouver Island and relax inside.
When Harry addressed attendees at a charity dinner for his charity Sentebale last month, he also brought up the news of his and Meghan’s move and shared his personal thoughts about the change.
“I want you to hear the truth from me—as much as I can share—not as a prince or a duke, but as Harry, the same person that many of you have watched grow up over the last 35 years, but with a clearer perspective…The U.K. is my home and a place that I love. That will never change. I have grown up feeling support from so many of you, and I watched as you welcomed Meghan with open arms as you saw me find the love and happiness that I had hoped for all my life.” He added that the decision to step back was “not one [I] made lightly. It was so many months of talks after so many years of challenges. And I haven’t always gotten it right, but as far as this goes, there really was no other option.”
